Songriffic Open Mic Competition winners


The 7-week Songriffic Open Mic Competition ended with the finale which took place on

January 27th at Loretta’s Last Call. Over 100 performers participated in the series from MA, NH, CT, NY and ME. Winners receive a professional photo shoot, opener spot at Loretta’s Last Call on a weekend, a gift certificate from Loretta’s and PR package in the form of blogs and social media content. The open mic series had two separate competitions, one for “Top Cover Song” and one for “Top Original Song”. Participating in the finals were 11 artists who were finalists in the cover song competition and 12 artists who were finalists in the original song competition (flyer of performer's winning songs follows). Cover song finalists were judged on vocals, dynamics, consistency, stage presence, audience engagement and confidence, and original song finalists were judged on song structure and composition, lyrics, music and melody and originality. Below is a bio summary on each of the Songriffic winners.


Mackenzie Clement is a 17-year-old singer-songwriter focused on theatrical/pop/fusion music. Mackenzie was also the winner of the 2018 Boston Sings Fenway competition at Loretta’s Last Call. She performs all over Boston at top venues including Faneuil Hall, Berklee Performance Center, Café 931, Boston Hard Rock, Chavalier Theater, Verb Hotel, Paradise Club, Gillette Stadium and The Burren. Mackenzie’s original songs, “I’m not shining today” and “Locked Door” are streaming on Spotify, and she has five additional original songs on Revebnation. She was a finalist in the 2019 Burlington Idol and has had her original songs recognized in national level competitions. Mackenzie's winning song performance received 5,248 views on Facebook


Amber Ais, Boston singer songwriter, began singing in church from the age of three and continued to do so throughout high school and college. In the fall of 2014 she began her studies at Berklee College of Music. On April 7, 2017 Amber Ais released her debut EP, 'Seattle'; a collection of three songs she wrote herself. It was recorded and produced in 2016 by friend, Daniel Dalexis. Her cool tone is supported by a blend of contemporary RnB and pop production as well as live instrumentation. On November 30, 2018 Amber Ais released her second EP Yearbook and has been performing around the US to promote the release. On Spotify Amber Ais has over 123,000 and has attracted 18,451 monthly listeners.


Both Amber and Mackenzie will perform on a weekend evening at Loretta’s Last Call as one of their winning prizes. A new competition series will begin the spring of 2020.
